Pick up a mood you want to evoke.
Selecting a mood or a genre in short story is as important as creating a plot. Mood is the soul of the story and everything depends on it just like tone, setting and so on.
Start within a strong opening to engage the readers.
It is very important to start with a strong opening because the engagement of the audience is totally dependent on the opening. If you have fascinated the reader in initial then it’s most likely that the reader will read the full story.
Keep the ending simple.
As is one should keep the ending simple because if the reader is not able to relate with the ending of the story then he or she will might not read the second part of the story if you ever release it and even when you don’t release the second part and publish the complete story in one go then it’s most likely to happen that you won’t receive a favorable feedback from the reader if they are not able to connect with the ending of the story.
